Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry – Familiarization Tour 2010

From 7 to 10 October 25 international buyers in the convention sector will be visiting the area and its facilities. The 25 buyers – agencies, meeting planners, events and incentive trip organizers – from Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Belgium, will be guests on Thursday 7 October of representatives of the VCO Chamber of Commerce and of the Convention Bureaux operating in the area: Lago Maggiore Conference, Lake Maggiore Tourist Board and the Varese Convention and Incentive Bureau. The familiarization tour will present the convention services and facilities offered in the provinces of Varese, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola and the Swiss Ticino Canton – an offer of the highest quality, both as regards location and facilities, which are unbeatable, with around 400 hotels, and 500 conference halls seating a total of almost 50,000.

Friday’s programme will see B2B meetings between 16 convention operators of the “Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry” and foreign buyers. On the other days of the visit the foreign operators will visit the area and its facilities in the provinces of Novara and Verbano Cusio Ossola. The buyers will also be able to find out about the convention offer in the rest of the convention destination during the workshop on Friday 8 October and during the gala dinner in Oleggio Castello on Saturday evening. Sunday morning will be devoted to visiting Lake Orta and San Giulio Island.

The 2010 Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry familiarization tour is an event promoting  the convention destination financed and organized in the framework of the Italy-Switzerland project for cross-boundary cooperation 2007-2013 “Meeting without borders: conventions and incentive travel on Lake Maggiore”, whose leading partner in Italy is the Chamber of Commerce of the Verbano Cusio Ossola province.  

Promotion of the Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry convention destination is the esult of an Italian-Swiss agreement between the tourist promotion boards of the area – Chambers of Commerce, Provinces, Local Tourist Boards, Convention Bureaux, Associations. The project encourages the coordinated promotion of the convention offer of the area with the aim of enhancing the meeting sector on the Italian national and international market.
